Always Read the Labels

Never assume a food is free of nuts or peanuts as an ingredient. Do not buy foods without a complete ingredient list. Read ingredient labels every time you shop as companies change their products often!

Opportunity to serve as a Public Representative on a Self-Regulating Health Professional Council.

The Saskatchewan Ministry of Health is responsible for appointing members of the public to the Councils of 23 Self-Regulating Health Professional Associations. Currently there are vacancies to be filled on several Councils.

As a public representative, you will bring forward a public perspective on issues of concern that are presented to the Council.

As a participating Council member, you will ensure that the profession acts fairly, follows the appropriate legislation and bylaws, fosters appropriate standards of practice and professional ethics, and serves to protect the public interest. You will have experience
on a board, council, or committee; have effective analytical, critical thinking and decision-making skills; and have an ability to understand health professional issues and policies.

Typically, public representatives are appointed by the Lieutenant Governor in Council for a term of two or three years and may be re-appointed for a second term. Council meetings may convene in Regina, Saskatoon, and other locations in the province. The time commitment for a public representative typically ranges from 4 to 12 days per year.

The Ministry of Health provides an honorarium ($100 per meeting) to public representatives engaged in the work of the Council and also reimburses travel expenses at Government rates.

Persons interested in serving as a public representative are encouraged to submit a résumé which includes a history of their community involvement, volunteer activities, relevant education
and employment experience by September 18, 2008 to:
