Sun Country Regional Health Authority meets in Weyburn

Sun Country Regional Health Authority (SCRHA) received an update on its extensive recruitment program from the CEO at its monthly board meeting Feb. 20 in Weyburn.

CEO Cal Tant told the board of directors the Region's Recruitment Director attended a job fair in Montreal this month, as part of the Human Resource Department's recruitment initiatives.

He said SCRHA continues to work on the establishment of a reciprocal relationship with local Chambers of Commerce to help find jobs for the spouses of health care employees who move here and jobs in health care for the spouses of other workers who move into the South East.

"This is another way we can help attract health care professionals to our region, he says. "If they can be fairly confident their spouse will be able to find a good job, they're more likely to look seriously at our jobs."

SCRHA celebrated the arrival recently at Weyburn General Hospital of a Filipino nurse who has spent the last 10 years nursing in Saudi Arabia. She is the first arrival of a group of nurses expected in the Region later this spring.

The second and final round of public consultations on creation of a new, three-year Strategic Plan for Sun Country Regional Health Authority was held in mid February. On Feb 19, a session was held in Estevan and on Feb 21 another session was held in Kipling.

Cal told the SCRHA board the consultants will bring information from these public discussions, and the earlier ones held in January, to SCRHA by mid-March.

He said the final steps in creating a new Strategic Plan will be completed this spring.
