Always Read the Labels

Never assume a food is free of nuts or peanuts as an ingredient. Do not buy foods without a complete ingredient list. Read ingredient labels every time you shop as companies change their products often!

New Registration System for St. Joseph’s Hospital

A new computerized registration system will be implemented at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Estevan on Monday, December 5, 2011.

The WinCIS system is a patient registration system designed for hospitals to capture information including admission, discharge and transfer (ADT) information on patients receiving health care services at St. Joseph’s Hospital.

With the implementation of this new system, the patient will be asked demographic information such as name, address, date of birth, family physician and contact information on their initial visit to the hospital. Once this information is entered into the system it is updated as necessary on subsequent visits. Therefore, the initial visit will take longer than subsequent visits.

The registration system captures information and will be interfaced with other clinical systems such as Radiology (including x-ray), Lab Information Systems, Pharmacy, etc. The purpose of this interface is to collect the information once and provide the information to those health care professionals in other departments providing services to the patient.

Interim President/CEO Marga Cugnet says "We are pleased to be able to adapt new technology to make the patient experience more satisfying and efficient. We have our customers’ satisfaction in mind when we make these changes."

The WinCIS system has been implemented in six other facilities in Sun Country Health Region since 2005.
