Sun Country Health Region to develop new Strategic Plan

Sun Country Regional Health Authority (SCHRA) Board of Directors approved a
motion at its regular monthly meeting to develop a new, three-year strategic plan.

The Board met on Wednesday, Nov. 22 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Estevan.

"Every organization needs to review its strategic plan on a regular basis," says
Board Chairman Earl Kickley.

"SCHRA is in its fifth year of operation. We need to update our plan to make sure we are focussing on the right areas and can provide the services people need," he said.

As part of the Strategic Planning process, SCHRA officials will involve community representatives and health professionals from the Region, he said.

The process should take up to 12 months. President and Chief Executive Officer Cal Tant told the Board SCHRA is projecting a $100,000 surplus at the end of the 2006-07 fiscal year, out of a $101 million operating budget.

"That's very close to a balanced budget," he told the board.
