Increased Utilization of St Joseph’s Hospital by the Sun Country Health Region

The Sun Country Health Region is enhancing services at St. Joseph's Hospital of Estevan.

Lee Spencer, C.E.O. of the Sun Country Health Region is pleased to announce several important initiatives:

  1. The Sun Country Regional Health Authority and the St. Joseph's Hospital of Estevan Board are working in partnership with SaskHealth to provide services that are consistent with Regional Hospital status.
  2. Active planning continues for the establishment of a much needed Regional Dialysis program at St Joseph's Hospital. Every effort will be made to ensure the development of and staffing for this program.
  3. The Sun Country Health Region is committed to the establishment of a clinical Telehealth site at St. Joseph's Hospital.
  4. Dr. Vino Padayachee , a well respected Estevan Physician, has been appointed Chief of Staff of the Sun Country Health Region.
  5. Mr. Mark Pettitt of Estevan has been appointed to the position of Director of Strategic Planning, Quality Assurance and Risk Management.
  6. A corporate head office for the Sun Country Health Region will be established at St. Joseph's Hospital of Estevan.
  7. In the fall, corporate head offices will be established for the Director of Mental Health, the Director of Public Health and the Director of Strategic Planning, Quality Assurance and Risk Management who will be working at St. Joseph's Hospital on a part-time basis providing better access to the clients and their staff.

Lee Spencer is enthusiastic about these changes. " We've been planning an increased presence at St Joseph's Hospital for some time", states Spencer. "We've always felt very welcome in the friendly, family atmosphere at the Hospital. These moves will benefit staff and residents of the southeast section of the Sun Country Health Region. We look forward to mutual dialogue and planning for excellent health care services."

The Sun Country Health Region's Leadership Committee will meet in Estevan several times throughout the year. The Sun Country Regional Health Authority will also continue to hold their regular board meetings in Estevan several times a year and will be advertising these dates in local newspapers.
