Earl Kickley, chair of the Sun Country Regional Health Authority, is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Calvin Tant as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Sun Country Health Region, effective Monday, October 31, 2005.

"I think we are extremely fortunate to recruit a candidate with Mr. Tant's education and experience," said Mr. Kickley.

Mr. Tant obtained his Master of Health Sciences degree from the University of Toronto, an Honours Baccalaureate from the University of Western Ontario and an Emergency Medical Technician Certificate.

Mr. Tant's work experience spans several provinces and includes leadership positions such as Executive Director, Prince George Regional Hospital and President and Chief Executive Officer at the Burntwood Regional Health Authority in Manitoba.

Mr. Tant is moving from Prince George, B.C. where he has recently been a lecturer at the University of Northern B.C. and the College of New Caledonia. His diverse experience in large teaching hospitals and with rural community health programs will be a real asset to the Sun Country Health Region.

Former CEO Lee Spencer announced his retirement this summer. He has served the South Central Health District and the new Sun Country Health Region since 1995.

On behalf of the Board and staff of the Region Mr. Kickley would like to thank Mr. Spencer for his loyal and dedicated service and extend him best wishes on his retirement.
