City of Weyburn Precautionary Drinking Water Advisory lifted for Weyburn and the Hamlet of North Weyburn

The precautionary drinking water advisory (PDWA) for Weyburn was lifted Sunday April 1.  The PDWA for the Hamlet of North Weyburn was lifted on April 11.

Please note - all other customers supplied by the City of Weyburn, including the Weyburn Utility Board, the Village of McTaggart and Nickle Lake Regional Park, are still on a PDWA until required remediation is completed.

For information about the PDWA, check this link http://city.weyburn.sk.ca/

If you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact at the City of Weyburn at 848-CITY(2489) or the Sun Country Health Region Public Health Inspectors at 842-8618.

This notice is to provide you with the steps to follow to flush your water system.  Before any water can be consumed - now that the PDWA is lifted - actions need to be taken to flush water systems in the properties in the City of Weyburn and area.

Homes and businesses (for those that live in apartments, the process is the same) will need to complete these four steps:

  1. Flush hot and cold water plumbing, by turning on each tap separately and let it run for five minutes).
  2. Ensure water softeners, water filters, and other water treatment or conditioning equipment are clean and safe to use.  Disposable type filters or cartridges including those in refrigerators and ice machines should be replaced.
  3. Flush and clean other water-using appliances.
  4. Discard ice, juice made from concentrate, or any other food or beverage prepared during the PDWA to ensure food safety.

For complete information on HOW TO complete steps one through four above, see the complete details available in the attachment below.

Please do not hesitate to contact at the City of Weyburn at 848-CITY(2489) or the Sun Country Health Region Public Health Inspectors at 842-8618.
