Funding will improve health facilities

Patients and clients of Sun Country Health Region will benefit from $1.18 million worth of building repairs, safety system upgrades and equipment purchases made possible with provincial funding.

The new money is part of $133.1 million in health system funding announced by Health Minister Don McMorris in February.

“Our continued investments in Saskatchewan’s health infrastructure put patients first by improving their safety and comfort and creating better work environments for their care providers,” says Estevan MLA Doreen Eagles, on behalf of Minister McMorris.

“This funding helps maintain and equip health facilities in Sun Country Health Region.”

Sun Country Health Region will spend $620,000 on equipment for medical/surgical procedures, laboratory work and rehabilitation, x-ray equipment and Telehealth sites.

About $560,000 of the funding will be used for building repairs, maintenance and upgrades to life/safety equipment.

“We are pleased the government’s Patient First priority is to improve the quality of health services and access to care,” says Marga Cugnet, Interim CEO, Sun Country Health Region.

“With 28 facilities to operate, it is difficult to keep up with preventative and needed maintenance. This new round of funding will allow us to do building improvements and maintenance like roof repairs,” she says.

“We will also be able to upgrade life and safety equipment like nurse call systems and emergency generators.”
